Five Loaves and Two Turkeys was founded in May 2024 with a small blue grill and an enormous heart for service. Founded by Mychal Johnson, the vision was simple yet profound: to serve the underserved with love and purpose. In September 2024, Hope Martin joined the mission, and together, with the favor of God, they began to grow a faith-based organization after God’s own heart.
From humble beginnings to a growing movement, 5 Loaves and 2 Turkeys is committed to meeting both physical and spiritual needs, focusing on the homeless and underserved neighborhoods. Guided by faith and fueled by service, we strive to embody the Gospel through action, one meal, and one life at a time.
We are on a mission to foster a community where faith is lived out through action, providing essentials, employment opportunities, and a discipleship community to support and empower the homeless and underserved.
We envision a world where underserved communities thrive, their physical needs met, and lives transformed by the Gospel. Through compassionate service and faith-centered initiatives, we aim to create pathways for growth, hope, and lasting change.

At 5 Loaves and 2 Turkeys, our faith and mission are grounded in biblical truths. These beliefs inspire and guide us as we serve the homeless, uplift communities, and share the transformative love of Christ.
The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Bible is the inspired, error-free Word of God, providing guidance for our faith and daily lives. It equips us to serve and share His love.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21
The Godhead
We believe in one God, existing eternally in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who work together in perfect unity.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, came to reveal God’s love, fulfill prophecy, and redeem the world. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose again in glory, and now intercedes for us as the head of His church.
John 1:1, 14; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:3
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live faithfully, grants spiritual gifts for service, and dwells within us as a guide and comforter.
Romans 8:1-9; Galatians 5:16-25
Satan and Evil
We believe Satan is the adversary of God and humanity, yet through Christ’s death and resurrection, his power is ultimately defeated.
Colossians 2:13-15; Revelation 20:10
Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It’s not earned but offered freely to all who believe.
John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9
Our Mission as Believers
We believe it’s our responsibility to live out our faith by walking in the Spirit, separating from worldly ways, and sharing the Gospel through words and actions.
Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 12:1
The Return of Christ
We believe Jesus will return to gather His followers and establish His eternal kingdom. His promise reminds us to live with purpose and hope.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Revelation 21:1-27
Eternal Life
We believe those who trust in Jesus will dwell with Him forever, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God.
2 Corinthians 5:8; Revelation 20:11-15
These beliefs anchor our work and remind us that our ultimate purpose is to glorify God by meeting physical needs and sharing His eternal hope. Together, let’s serve and disciple, making His love known to all.
